Welcome to the Small Investor Toolbox.
If you are a small investor looking to build or update your toolbox of resources to guide you on your investing journey, you’ve come to the right place.
The podcast
I’m a small investor, just like you. Join me as I work my way through books, magazines, websites, and all the other resources out there that might help turn me into the great investor I’ve always wanted to be. Along the way I’ll look at many of the concepts and ideas from the investing world and try to work out whether they are really worth knowing, or just more jargon that can be safely ignored.
Each week I will explore a different resource, give you my honest take on how it fits into my investing life, and share any tips or useful links I find.
You can find the podcast by searching for Small Investor Toolbox on any of the major platforms. Hit subscribe, then every Monday morning a new episode should hit your feed.

Your erstwhile host
I’m Allan Tweddle. I’ve been a small investor for a few years now. I manage my own small portfolio of mostly UK shares.
I am a qualified chartered accountant, which gives me some advantages when looking at company accounts. However, I have no investment training, no professional investing qualifications, and have never worked in the field. For this reason I understand what it is like to be a small, private investor. We each bring our own skills and experience, but in order to succeed we need to know what to read, who to follow, where, and how to research, and much more.
The Small Investor Toolbox is intended to be your guide to what’s out there, the theory and jargon that’s worth knowing, and where, and how best to find all that research you need.
